<image:title>Les Dames Nashville Members - Wendy French Barrett</image:title>
<image:caption>Wendy French Barrett grew up on her mama’s kitchen stool begging to get her hands dirty in the tiny West TN town of Parsons. Though her first infamous dish at 7 included raw hamburger meat "slightly poached," she has gone on to more well-executed endeavors like towering cakes and homemade pasta dishes. Her love of food remained eminent, and it was clear that 9 hours a day in a windowless corporate office wouldn't do for her, no matter how much she loved her colleagues or the ability to spend $100 at Target on a whim. She was happiest when she was reading cookbooks like novels and embarking on hours-long cooking projects. She talked about Christopher Kimball like he was family and writing menus became as enjoyable as composing morose poetry was in her youth. Thus, in 2010, Wise Butter was born. Wise Butter is small-batch, blended butter made lovingly by hand in Nashville, TN. Our butter allows you to have a spiritual experience with toast. Or, it can make that sad little recipe you're working with sing. Our flavors change with the seasons (and our whims). We work to highlight local produce and other regional specialties. Spanning from familiar to unexpected, our one-of-a-kind butters are sure to please both gourmands and picky 5-year-olds alike. Don't deny what you know to be true: everything's better with butter.</image:caption>

<image:caption>A Nashville native, Emma Biard has always been passionate about building relationships through event planning and the restaurant industry. As co-owner of SS Gai, Emma enjoys working alongside her husband and business partner Chris Biard to curate an approachable yet high quality and well-executed dining experience that is like no other in the city. Based on her love for the restaurant industry, Emma chose to study hospitality at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville—while in school, she worked at a number of hotels and restaurants in concierge and server roles. After graduation, she moved back home to Nashville to work for The Neighborhood Dining Group’s Husk Nashville. She was quickly promoted to an events manager and moved to Savannah, GA, to help open Husk Savannah and build out the events program from the ground up. In January 2021, the pair decided to relocate closer to family and establish roots again in Nashville. Emma went back to the events world, taking on the role as the events director for The Continental. After some time in that position, she moved on to run the Front of House at East Side Banh Mi, allowing more time to focus on her restaurant venture with Chris. Together, they built SS Gai on the notion that flavorful, street food-style Thai chicken can thrive in Nashville’s bustling dining scene. Currently, I am in the Manager of Meetings and Travel at HCA Healthcare. We have 10,000 meetings a year from 10 people to 500 people. <image:caption>The desire to gather and celebrate special occasions over food and drinks is a concept that has fascinated Belle throughout her entire hospitality career, which started at the age of 17. Originally from Williamsburg, Virginia, Belle has called Nashville home for nearly a decade, during which she has executed events for Marsh House and Killebrew Coffee at The Thompson Hotel Nashville and Germantown’s beloved restaurant, 5th & Taylor. Belle draws inspiration from Music City’s electric energy and her artistic background to create warm, beautiful, memorable events that cater to the individual tastes and personalities of each couple she meets. For her, there is no greater sense of achievement than seeing a bride and groom enjoying themselves on their wedding day—eating, laughing and dancing the night away with their wedding guests in a beautiful setting without a care in the world. When she’s not chatting through timelines with excited couples or crafting the perfect menu with Executive Chef Kristin Beringson in Henley, you can find her making flower crowns, creating ceramic art in her home studio or spending time with her husband of more than seven years, their daughter, and their pitbull-boxer mix, Freya, and tiny black cat, Leto.</image:caption>

<image:caption>“My dedication to food systems as a professional ecologist began 19 years ago, but many years after my consciousness of food and foodways being one of joy and concern emerged as I worked alongside my father and siblings in our large kitchen garden and my mother in our kitchen with produced breakfasts, lunches, and dinners daily for our large family of nine children. All hands-on deck was the necessity in our ‘tribe’ and my love of helping prepare and serve food, and even clean up after our large family tabled meals still brings a smile to my face every moment I recall. It has informed and permeated my life and brought me to a career rich in exploring regenerative and communal food. I have dedicated the latest part of my adult career to regenerating our food systems and building community in a way that captures the value of producing and eating and sharing food in a way that sustains and nourishes all living things. As a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier, Nashville Chapter I will work alongside other members to bring educational opportunities to the community to continue this work of inviting people to think deeply about their relationship to food and the complexities involved in our relationship and access to ‘honest’ food I am also interested in joining into the work of serving others, as the Chapter needs and in hosting philanthropic events at my home. Often, we gather beautifully in commercial space but I believe that the addition of offering events at homes, where most food is prepared and eaten around the world, provides an additional intimate way to be in relationship with our community around the rituals and issues of food and water as daily elements essential to life.”</image:caption>

<image:title>Les Dames Nashville Members - Caroline Randall Williams</image:title>
<image:caption>Born and raised in Nashville Tennessee, Harvard graduate Caroline Randall Williams is an award-winning poet, young adult novelist, and cookbook author as well as an activist, public intellectual, performance artist, and scholar. She joined the faculty of Vanderbilt University in the Fall of 2019 as a Writer-in-Residence in the Department of Medicine, Health, and Society while she continues to work and speak to the places where art, business, and scholarship intersect, moving people closer to their best lives and corporations closer to their ideal identities. She has spoken in twenty states: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and West Virginia, in venues that range from as small as a classroom in a neighborhood school to as large as the Superdome mainstage during Essence Fest. To every speaking engagement Caroline brings a fierce intelligence, disarming charm, a touch of glamour, and a depth of lived experience that belies her thirty-two years. She has taught in two of the poorest states in the union — Mississippi and West Virginia — and she has been educated at two of the richest universities on the globe — Harvard and Oxford. Named by Southern Living as “One of the 50 People changing the South,” the Cave Canem fellow has been published and featured in multiple journals, essay collections and news outlets, including The Iowa Review, The Massachusetts Review, CherryBombe, Garden and Gun, Essence and the New York Times.</image:caption>

<image:title>Les Dames Nashville Members - Kathy Segers - Chef Kathy fell in love with baking as a little girl sitting on the counter stool in her grandmother’s kitchen. Kathy’s grandmother was a wedding cake designer and instilled in her a love for baking and an entrepreneurial spirit. In elementary school, Kathy was her taste-tester, and in high school she worked as her cake deliverer. Today, Chef Kathy has worked in the world's top baking and pastry institutions including The International Culinary Center (formally The French Culinary Institute) in New York City and California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. Chef Kathy worked in Napa Valley at La Toque for Chef Ken Frank and Cindy’s Back Street Kitchen for Chef Cindy Pawlcyn. She was awarded a scholarship through Women’s Chefs and Restaurateurs, continuing her training in Burgundy, France, attending the La Varenne trainee program under Chef and cookbook author, Anne Willan. There she received the La Varenne Certificate. Chef Kathy also worked and taught culinary classes at Seasons of Provence Cooking School at Mas de Cornud, in St-Remy-de-Provence, France for Chef Nito Carpita. She has styled food for video and photography and tested recipes for clients including Time Inc. Food Studio’s Southern Living Magazine and Cooking Light Magazine. She is a Certified Executive Pastry Chef and a Certified Culinary Educator with the American Culinary Federation. Chef Kathy is a member of Les Dames d'Escoffier of Nashville, TN. Her twenty years as a pastry chef, fifteen years as an instructor, and experience scaling a baking company in San Francisco gives her a unique understanding of what customers want and how to run an operation that provides it. Chef Kathy brings the professional caliber of top tier French baking institutions, and the warm nostalgia of tasting and learning in her grandmother’s kitchen into her very own creations.</image:title>

<image:title>2023 board - Cara Graham</image:title>
<image:caption>Cara Graham’s inviting smile is a warm, familiar feeling for steady restaurant-goers in the Nashville, Tennessee, area. And even if it’s your first time meeting her, the pleasure is all the same. With over 20 years of restaurant experience, Cara’s front-of-house savvy has perfected her knack for setting the tone. Her résumé extends to several Nashville favorites, along with a Business/Management degree that keeps all-things-business in check at Lockeland Table, her venture with partner and Executive Chef, Hal M. Holden-Bache. For Cara, it’s all about being connected to people and creating experiences. Owning a restaurant in the booming culinary scene of Nashville has proved to be her perfect outlet. Perched within the Lockeland Springs neighborhood on the east side of the city, Lockeland Table has become a staple since their opening in August 2012. Not only are they deep-rooted in providing exquisite food and drink, they are also invested in and committed to giving back to the community that supports them with a full house nearly every night. Hal and Cara are very involved in local philanthropy, including their own Community HourTM which donates a portion of the proceeds from their “Happy Hour” to the local Parent Teacher Organization at Lockeland Design Center. Cara is as local to Nashville as they come. Born and raised in Pegram, Tennessee, and now lives in East Nashville with her husband and two boys. She finds it rewarding to be surrounded by a committed and involved community. Because of this, Cara is dedicated to providing wonderful experiences for her neighbors through food, camaraderie, and charity.</image:caption>
