October 2016 President's Letter

Dear Nashville Dames,
It's a pleasure to be your new chapter president this year. To begin, I want to thank some folks:
Merijoy Rucker, past president. Thank you for being our leader last year even when you didn't feel like it. (Merijoy has undergone a courageous battle with cancer, she improves daily, and she remains on our chapter board.)
Nancy Knoepfel, past president and board member. Thank you for founding the Nashville chapter and for your dedicated service as an officer and board member!
Jessica Collins, past secretary and also someone who attends most every function we have. Thanks, Jessica!
Mindy Merrell, past communications chair, nominations chair, and board member. Thanks for making sure our chapter has a great online presence. And thank you for hosting the Sunday potluck.
Potluck No. 1

A few weeks ago, we had a potluck in Mindy's backyard. It was a first for Nashville Dames. We talked, sipped, and sampled homemade potato gratin, pea salad, heirloom tomatoes, Mediterranean chicken, platter salads, hatch chile corn muffins, pound cake, Goo Goo pie, apple slab pie, and more! There was sangria, rose, and cold beer. It was a ton of fun, but if you missed it, don't worry. Potluck No. 2 will happen next spring. And when it does, we want you to be there with us at the long table!
 Lunch with Lidia Bastianich
Speaking of being there, you need to be at an upcoming Lunch with Lidia on Oct. 25 at Margot's Cafe in East Nashville. Yes, Lidia is coming to Nashville! And we thank Nashville Dame Paulette Licitra for reaching out to Lidia to see if she would like to do a Les Dames Nashville event. Tickets are available on Brown Paper Tickets. This is a HUGE opportunity for Lidia to spend time with us, FANTASTIC that Margot will prepare Lidia's recipes using local TN ingredients. And to have the lunch benefit our growing scholarship fund, well, that is PRICELESS! And Lidia will be signing books, too!
Bourbon Countdown
And lastly, the rescheduled Nelson's Green Brier Distillery tasting takes place Oct. 18. These tickets are also available on Brown Paper Tickets! A portion of the proceeds benefit our scholarship fund. You and friends can sample Belle Meade Bourbon and head over to Cochon Butcher in Germantown afterwards for a casual supper.
It's fall, top-notch events are coming our way fast, and all the details of fall programming will be in your inbox this week. Our scholarship committee has exciting news on the Mayor's Initiative. Our Green Tables committee has plans for an awesome farm tour April 2017. We may be a new chapter, but we are an ACTIVE CHAPTER! in a fast and growing city. Take advantage of the events for professional networking or just your sanity. Come meet fellow Dames. Let this be the year you get involved. We need each and every of you.
All best wishes,
Anne
President, Les Dames Nashville
